iPhone 6s Camera Test: I Was Shocked What I found Out While At The Auckland Viaduct

Few days after New Years had just passed by, I decided to explore and sightsee around the Viaduct in Auckland City.  There’s more to see around the Viaduct as it has been continuously expanding with new business and commercial developments, new roads, apartments, cafes and restaurants in the past recent months and years.  I’ve always loved and enjoyed exploring that area even during day and night.  But during that day, I decided to relax and test my iPhone 6s at the Viaduct Harbour Avenue by the vicinity of Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Hotel. This hotel overlooks the beautiful apartments by the water with boats and yachts parked by.  It was the 4th of January and most of the locals were still out of town. The commercial businesses by the Viaduct Harbour Avenue were also closed as most people are still on holiday.  Though, the Sofitel Hotel was obviously open for business, as well as the cafe and restaurant on the other side of the hotel.  It was quieter than normal so I decided to stop by and walk around the area to test the quality of my iPhone 6s camera.

You won’t believe what I found out, while testing my iPhone 6s Camera – Outdoors.

The iPhone 6s has an increased resolution 12 megapixel iSight camera, with autofocus and focus pixel, f/2.2 aperture, auto image stabilisation, improved noise reduction and many more features.  Not only the photo quality has improved but the video quality as well with 4k video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps.  On video mode it also offers continuous auto focus and noise reduction allowing you to record smooth and sharp footage even on low light settings.

Below are some of the photos I took with my iPhone 6s back facing camera (12 megapixel).  These photos have not been edited and were shot in natural day light, which was around mid afternoon at the Viaduct Harbour Avenue, Auckland.

Unedited iPhone 6s Photos

I found peace and quiet time during that afternoon, whilst wandering around.  I could mostly hear birds tweeting.  Mostly tourists were walking in and out of the Sofitel Hotel and walking along the Viaduct Harbour Avenue.  It was indeed an eventful afternoon.  I really enjoyed it though.  Sometimes, it’s nice to be in an environment were you can find solitude in order to reflect and just relax.

Below are just some edited photos taken with my iPhone 6s.  I edited these photos on my iPhone 6s utilising Instagram, Photoshop and ACDSee Pro.

This photo was taken with the front facing camera though it was edited on Instagram.

Front Facing Iphone 6s Camera Test

Here’s another unedited photo of me taken with the front facing camera.  I’m super impressed with the quality. Apple has improved the camera to a 5mp camera as compared to the old iPhones.  The newer iPhone also includes its feature called “Retina Flash”, which allows the phone screen to light up acting as a flash whenever you take photos on a front facing camera in a dark environment.  That’s great isn’t it?

Inside Hotel Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour

As I was walking back, I headed to check out Sofitel Hotel.  I actually went inside to explore and take more photos just to test the quality of the indoor photos with the iPhone 6s.  Again, I was indeed surprised to see how clear and sharp it came out even on low light setting.  Below you’ll get to see some photos of some beautiful vintage decor inside Sofitel Hotel.
